Skibin & Skibin is a family-run cider farm nestled in the picturesque Babna Reka valley, on the edge of Kozjansko, a traditional apple-growing region in Slovenia. The farm is located in Babna Reka, 7 km from Terme Olimia and 20 km from Rogaška Slatina — an easy detour if you're staying in the Podčetrtek region.
Situated on a south-facing slope on Ilovka soil with pH 7, our farm reflects the unique terroir of the area which is great for cider apples.
Our orchard combines new plantings of specialized tannic cider apple varieties with old traditional trees, including the famous wild Lesnika. Historically, the farm produced both grape and apple wine for domestic use, and the original beam press has been preserved.
We built the first phase of our Cider Mill, with a capacity of 28,000 liters, and expansion is planned. We use 100% natural juice pressed immediately after harvest. No concentrates, no added sugar or water, following traditional wine-making methods. Our production includes pét-nat and still cider, in extra brut, brut, and demi-sec styles, full-bodied and tannic. We also make gastronomy products: cider vinegar, aged cider vinegar, gastronomic vinegar, and Pommeau-style blends (a name for which is still in development).
Visits are by appointment — write or call ahead.
Short tastings are available during the season: a few pours, a look around the cellar.
A few times each season we hold a Symposium — a full afternoon at the table, from 13:00 until it ends. Cider after cider, paired flight by flight with a proper meal. Preparation is extensive; seats are few. Book well in advance through CiderClub.si.
The farm hosts a woodworking workshop, producing furniture and crafted items that are already available for purchase during visits.
